·Mazda's advanced safety vehicle Atenza ASV-5 begins trials on public roads

Mazda developed the Atenza ASV-5 equipped with advanced driving safety support system and began testing it on public roads from September 2013. The vehicle was used to test a driving safety support system which utilizes an intelligent transport system cooperatively developed by industrial, academic and government organizations. The car also took part in the 20th ITS World Congress Tokyo 2013 in October and demonstrated a futuristic safety system in which streetcars and automobiles communicate with each on the streets of Hiroshima.

The order is the highest decoration bestowed upon foreign citizens by the government of the United Mexican States. Mexican President, His Excellency Enrique Peña Nieto, presented the award at a ceremony at the Embassy of Mexico in Tokyo.

Cumulative production at Hofu plant reached nine million units 28 years and two months after vehicle production began in September 1982. Cumulative production rose from eight to nine million units in just 2 years and 5 months due to high volumes of the Mazda Axela (Mazda3), production of which began in November 2008.
