Mazda Maniac: MadMaz
Some people get gift vouchers or socks for Christmas. Not Lisa Criticos. Her husband gave her a 1972 Mazda 1000 and he’d customized it for her too. But then again, what would you expect from the Australian couple who run JC Racing – custom car specialists and drag racing demons?
“My husband, Johnny, gave me MadMaz as a [birthday] gift. The original ute [pick-up] was owned by some friends who let their kids drive it around their farm.
I’ve also got a Mazda RS Coupe for the weekends but the ute’s my daily drive.
Johnny’s known as Australia’s Guru of Mazdas; his R100 is the fastest in the world. It only took him three months to build MadMaz. He says he builds Mazdas for me but I know they’re for him really.”
